Ms. Chris has been at Legacy since the beginning of LPA time (12 years (2005-2006). After serving on several school boards in Colorado, she saw the need for the arts in the community and started teaching privately. Prior to being an art teacher, Ms. Chris worked in Management and Development for Honeywell, American Hospitals and Target Stores. She has a B.S. from the U of U and a Masters in Organizational Development from BYU.
She loves her job, the kids and the LPA community. Many of her students have earned scholarships in Art. Her philosophy is that any child (and adult) can be an artist, if taught the principles and processes. Her mission is to help artists transfer these skills into life skills. As a past LPA student (now studying engineering at the U of U) said," she taught me how to draw a cube but taught me how to think outside the box." All her art projects correspond to her students' science, history and literature lessons: enhancing learning everyday and inspiring students to use critical thinking and creativity. Her passion and joy is seeing a child's self-esteem develop as they observe what they can accomplish in art....and then, in life.
